ABHA Health ID Card: Registration and Linking Medical Records

The Promise: "Showing my old reports to the new doctor" without carrying a bulky plastic bag. The Trap: Scammers calling you to "update your vaccine certificate" and generating an ABHA ID using your OTP to steal data.

1. What is ABHA?

ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) is part of the Digital Mission. It acts like a Google Drive for your medical history, but owned by the government and controlled by you.

• It is NOT: An insurance card (that is PM-JAY).
• It IS: A digital identity number.

2. How to Create ABHA (Free)

1. Visit abha.abdm.gov.in.
2. Click "Create ABHA Number".
3. Use Aadhaar or Driving License.
4. Enter the OTP sent to your linked mobile.
5. Create a PHR Address (like an email, e.g., name@abdm).
6. Download the card.

3. How to Use It

Next time you go to a big hospital (like AIIMS or Apollo):

1. Show your ABHA QR code at the registration desk.
2. Your details (Name, Age, Gender) are instantly shared. No form filling.
3. When you get a blood test, the report comes directly to your PHR App on your phone.

• Red Flag: "Sir, we are calling from the Health Ministry. Share OTP to link your Vaccination Certificate to ABHA." (The Govt never calls for this).
• Red Flag: Websites charging fees to "print PVC ABHA Card".
• Action: Never share OTP. ABHA linking is done by YOU, on the app, or physically at the hospital counter.

4. Privacy Control

The best feature of ABHA is Consent. If a doctor wants to see your past records, you get a notification: "Dr. Gupta wants to view your records." You can say Yes or No. You can also revoke access later. Your data is not open to everyone; it is locked by your consent.
